Madame Fanja

Anivorano, Madagascar

The Anivorano Women’s Association now works to educate and involve every member of the community in construction, reforestation, and healthcare projects. They have built roads and schools, created a seedling nursery, and begun supporting reforestation plots in the neighboring rainforests. What began as a small idea is now a community ethos, interwoven through the very fabric of the town.

“Our association is doing the most we can to reforest and teach others about climate change and its impacts. This is really important for me, especially as I am the president of the Women’s Association: society and solidarity”

Community Case Study

Over 30 hectares of precious rainforest were replanted this year – which the communities know is one of the most effective ways to develop climate resiliency for the future. Healthcare and agricultural services continued, concurrently building out a stronger foundation for all programs that will better support communities through future climate shocks.

“All I wish is for our region to be peaceful. That its inhabitants would be self-sufficient without needing to call for help but able to live independently. This is all I wish for this region where I live... and that we would be surrounded by beautiful green forests!”
